Carrying on the Pizza challenge we decided t go for an individual restaurant over a chain. When we first started our Pizza Challenge one name came up that we hadn’t heard of “La Tarantella,” just off Chiswick High Road, this pizzeria seems to have won the locals over. More like a rustic local restaurant than the gloss chains, there are only a few tables within the restaurant.
The menu is as you would expect from a local Italian restaurant. There are plenty of Pizzas, Pasta, Anti Pasta and some special plates so there is a good deal of choice together with a reasonable wine selection, they also do a lunch time special which seems to be the norm for Chiswick nowadays.
We just had Pizzas for our visit. Dee had Napoli (similar to what she ordered in Franco Manco), which had anchovies, olive and capers on a tomato and mozzarella pizza. The base was nice, not too crispy and well cooked. The pizza had a light tomato sauce and full of toppings.
Jason had a Calzone. It is not something I normally order but thought I would try it out as it had the things I like on a Pizza and as we were in a traditional Italian restaurant I thought I would try something very Italian. It was with the usual Ham, Cheese, Mushrooms and Ricotta and tasted very good. There wasn’t too much dough as can sometimes happen with the Calzone.
